In case you missed it, DOLE released their Guidelines on Ventilation for Workplaces and Public Transport to Prevent and Control the Spread of COVID-19.
To make things easier for you, here’s a convenient breakdown on the ventilation guidelines for each workspace:
- Non Air-conditioned Spaces
- Maximize natural ventilation through the use of doors, windows, and other openings.
- If natural ventilation is not feasible or inadequate, mechanical ventilation should be present.
- Exhaust fans should be kept continuously open as much as possible.
- Air flow direction or movement should be considered in the layout of work stations to avoid close contact.
- Regularly clean windows, other openings, and ventilation fans on a weekly basis or as necessary.
- Air-conditioned Spaces
- Run the ventilation system for at least 30 minutes before and after spaces are occupied.
- Keep the shutters of the air conditioning units in an upward position to prevent the air flowing from one person to another.
- Frequently open the windows, doors, and other openings to supplement the mechanical ventilation systems.
- Establish a cleaning and maintenance program for the air conditioning units.
- Restrooms
- Ensure that exhaust fans are functional and operational at full capacity whenever the building is occupied.
- Close the toilet bowl seat lid before flushing to minimize the release of droplets into the air.
- Do not use hand blowers or jet dryers as it contributes to the dispersion of potentially contaminated air inside the restroom.
